You can contact me by phone or email. First we'll have a brief call, so we can decide if my skills are the right fit for you.

During our first couple of sessions, I'll ask you a wide range of questions to get a sense of what you hope to accomplish in therapy, as well as some of your background and history. This is also a good time for you to ask me questions if you'd like - about my training, about how I might collaborate on your goals with you, or anything that comes to mind. Once I've evaluated your needs, I'll suggest an approach I believe will be best suited for you.

After our first meeting, I encourage you to think about how you felt during the session. Having a good "fit" with your therapist is a key aspect of successful treatment. If you don't feel I'm a good fit for you, I will be happy to connect you with other therapists who might be a better match.

Therapy has many benefits, but it is also hard work. Most people need several sessions to feel positive changes. At any point in therapy, you might experience difficult feelings. We use our sessions to look at those difficult feelings and understand them better - I like the metaphor of therapy as a laboratory where there are no accidents. Although there are no guaranteed outcomes, therapy often leads to improved stress management, greater satisfaction in relationships, greater personal awareness, and improved problem solving skills.
